Amcor to exhibit PET packaging portfolio at Unified Wine & Grape Symposium in US

PKBR Staff Writer Published 19 January 2018

Amcor Rigid Plastics is set to exhibit its polyethylene terephthalate (PET) packaging portfolio at Unified Wine & Grape Symposium in the US.

The event will take place between 23 and 25 January in Sacramento, California.

Based in Hood River of Oregon, Naked Winery is using Amcor’s lightweight PET bottles for its Outdoor Vino brand.

The shatter-proof and portable 750ml bottles are serving as differentiating packaging for Outdoor Vino brand, said Amcor.

Amcor manufactures PET wine bottles at its Fairfield facility in California.

Compatible with twist-off aluminum closures, the PET wine bottles takes the support of barrier coating technology to protect wine from oxidation.

Amcor PET wine bottles offer a shelf life between 12 and 18 months. The screw-cap and BPA-free plastic packaging is durable and one-sixth weight of a traditional glass wine bottle.

Amcor’s diversified products division’s spirits, wine, and beer vice president Beth Rettig said: “People want to enjoy wine more casually, no longer holding it for special occasions or to simply be enjoyed with dinner.

“Consumers are active and living on-the-go lifestyles. They are taking wine with them when they hike, hit the beach, and visit friends. Amcor’s PET bottles are a lightweight and durable solution for consumers’ increasing demands.”

Naked Winery marketing and brand manager Becky Williams said: “We believe that if you’re in the middle of an outdoor adventure you should absolutely be able to enjoy a great bottle of wine.”

Amcor provides a range of flexible and rigid plastic packaging solutions to the food, beverage, healthcare and tobacco industries.
