Ball adds 15-centiliter slim can to European beverage packaging range

Published 09 January 2018

Can manufacturer Ball has expanded its European beverage packaging range with smallest can format to date.

The company created a 15-centiliter slim can in response to European consumers changing tastes, seeking for smaller packaging formats that provide portion control and portability.

The smallest can offers several options. It can be used for juice, water and coffee as well as the adult mixers market.

It can also be utilized for distribution in aircrafts and vending machines, for beverage brands intended at children.

Customers who seek to create sample size cans for marketing activities and events can also use the smallest can, which will be manufactured at the Naro Fominsk facility in Russia and distributed worldwide.

Ball Russian sales manager Irina Dolyanovskaya said: “At first we assumed that the 15-centiliter size would be most convenient for strong alcohol or vodka, particularly within the Russian market.

“However, we are actually seeing that this can format is also appealing to the newer canned beverage categories such as juices, waters and cold brew coffees.”

Ball marketing and strategic planning director Ana Neale said: “The new can size is a prime example of Ball extending its range in order to meet the demands of its customers. Ensuring that we understand and respond to consumer trends and market-specific regulations is a key part of this.”

Ball provides sustainable packaging solutions for beverage, food and household products customers, as well as aerospace and other technologies and services primarily for the US government.

The company and its subsidiaries employ 18,450 people worldwide globally.

Ball recently won a 2017 Asia CanTech Award from CanTech International for its Riya Bindas Mania aluminum aerosol deodorant can for Reacha Cosmetics.
