CMA CGM launches new system to transport liquids by container

PKBR Staff Writer Published 08 February 2018

Marine transportation and shipping firm CMA CGM has introduced a new system for the transportation of liquids by container.

CMA CGM has taken the support of Teconja, a German juices expert, and liquids transportation packaging solutions provider for liquids transportation, Liqua, to develop the Reeflex system for the transportation of liquids by controlled temperature.

The Reeflex system enables to transport liquids such as juices, milk, compotes, syrup and oils in a single bag with a capacity ranging from 12,000 liters  to 24,000 liters.

The external pumping system will help to fill and evacuate the bag in 35 minutes.

It is an alternative to break bulk, helping exporters and importers to ship their goods by containers and improve the conditions of transportation and delivery.

According to the company, Reeflex can be installed within three minutes, and is available on Reefer containers of 40ft

The system enables to preserve the product’s nutritional and chemical properties through maintaining sterile environment and controlled temperatures between -35°C and +20°C.

Each single-use bag can be recycled, and can be produced as per the requirements of the customers.

Without the presence of someone, the system will fill up and evacuates the bag in the container during the operations.

Reefer deputy vice president Eric Legros said: "CMA CGM owns one of the largest and most modern Reefer fleet in the world.

"A pioneer with Aquaviva, a unique solution for the transportation of lobsters and shellfish, the Group continues to innovate with the introduction of REEFLEX, a state-of-the-art technology for an optimal transportation of liquids.”
