Rapak unveils flexible packaging solution for fruit juice producers

PKBR Staff Writer Published 15 May 2018

Rapak, part of DS Smith Plastics, is set to showcase new flexible packaging solution for fruit juice producers at this year’s Ipack-Ima event in Italy.

The event will take place between 29 May and 1 June in Milan.

At the event, the company will show new solution, which features VINIflow dispensing tap and monolayer bag for hot filling.

Rapak supplies flexible packaging bags, dispensing taps and outer cardboard packaging, as well as flexible packaging filling and case forming equipment for the customers in the juice segment.

VINIflow is a dispensing tap that provides convenient pouring, better oxygen transmission rate (OTR) and directional flow.

Designed to be used for juice and soft drinks, the new hot fillabledispenser is provided with an aseptic tab seal.

The aseptic tab seal is beneficial to juice producers who use water baths to cool bags after hot fill and need a closed nozzle area to prevent contamination build-up.

DS Smith Plastics unit has developed a new monolayer bag for hot fill applications. It will help to prevent contamination of condensation in the bag layers and preserves the original colour.

The air will not be trapped in single ply bag, while patches of air are trapped between layers in the traditional twin-ply bags.

Rapak produces monolayer bag by using Nylon EVOH laminate at its Germany facility located in Schwetzingen.

The bag, which is free from phthalates, heavy metals and Bisphenol A, is approved by EU and FDA for food contact applications.

Rapak will also exhibit a range of dispensing taps, tubes and fitments for flexible packaging of juice products, as well as food service industry. It will also showcase dispensing machines at the event.

Rapak also produces Autokap flexible packaging filling equipment for juice, nectars, soft drinks and fruit particles.

Recently, Rapak North America has introduced new Autokap 1900 series liquid filling equipment for 30 to 55 gallons bag-in-box bulk liquid packaging.
